So Emma is six months. I have no clue how that happened. It seems like Sophie was so little for so long.
Emma is such a good girl. Because she didn’t have reflux, we have been blessed with a pretty good sleeper that has been able to gain weight at a healthy pace. (She also has the most tolerable cry ever and rarely cries, which is a huge bonus.) Just recently, she has been waking up more throughout the night. I don’t know if she is hungry (doesn’t make sense because she has not woken to eat since about three weeks old), is working on meeting milestones, or just wants to visit and sneak in some extra cuddles.
Speaking of hungry, she has started eating some “solids”. The rules have changed even since Sophie, so Emma has already had some interesting things, like sausage and yogurt with strawberries. Emma has rolled from her belly to her back a few times. She is stingy on those rolls. She has not rolled from her back to the stomach ever, though she rolls from side to side all the time. She even tries to tuck her legs underneath her to get into the crawl position. She just sat independently this weekend for the first time ever. We have been working on it and she seems I have finally gotten the hang of it. Yea, Emma! (Way safer than the trust fall she had mastered.)
We went to her check-up on a spring-like day. (We haven’t been getting many of those this spring so it was memorable.)
Emma’s length was measured. (How crazy that a year ago, she was being measured crown to rump because she was all tiny and curled up inside of me. So crazy that she is here. Still can’t believe it.) The nurse does the measuring, and even the doctor comments that Nurse Karen shortchanges everyone on their length. Emma was 26.75 in which didn’t sound too short so we believed her.
I need to point out that my mama editing skills are really rotten. I love almost every single picture and all of their different angles so I usually do not edit many pictures out. Then she was weighed. She weighed 17 lbs. 1oz. Practically perfect.
For comparison sake, Sophie was 12 lbs. 5oz. and 24.5 in. at six months. (Stupid reflux.) Maybe that’s why I felt she was little forever.
Oh, Future Emma, do not compare yourself to anyone but if you must, compare yourself to your older cousin, Joey, who topped the scales at 19lb 9oz when he was 6 months old. See? You’re just a peanut! I love seeing those sweet legs in all of these pictures!
Emma, I cannot believe you are 6 months old either! I can’t wait to get those legs on a bike! Perfect quads for some distance cycling with your Aunt Libby.
P.S. Tell your momma to handle your baby mullet.
